Southeast Asia Climate Outlook Survey 2020–2024

A multi-year research project examining climate perceptions, regional leadership views, and policy sentiments across Southeast Asia. I collaborated with ISEAS – Yusof Ishak Institute and the SUTD Lee Kuan Yew Centre for Innovative Cities to translate complex survey findings into clear, engaging visual communication for the 5-year report and its promotional materials.

Why the Client Needed Help

The research team managed datasets covering multiple countries in ASEAN, with tight internal deadlines and multiple stakeholders reviewing visuals. Past workflows required extensive revisions, and charts often needed rethinking to better match the narrative.

They needed a designer who could not only produce graphics, but also recommend visual strategies, guide clarity, and reduce the team’s workload during a demanding reporting period.

How We Solved It Together

I worked closely with the researchers to shape the visual direction of the report from the start. I shared early concepts, proposed alternative layouts, and suggested chart types that clarified insights. This collaborative approach resulted in a fast, low-revision workflow that allowed the team to make confident decisions even under pressure. The final deliverables included publication-ready graphics for the report and platform-optimized posters for LinkedIn and Instagram.

What the Collaboration Achieved

The improved workflow reduced revision cycles significantly and produced visuals that conveyed complex findings with clarity and consistency. The social media graphics extended the report’s reach beyond the research community, helping the institute communicate key insights to a broader audience.

Client Feedback

"I appreciated you taking the initiative to share your ideas for feedback and for proposing alternative ways to present data for us to explore. My colleagues also said that you had great design sense which reduced the need for us to request revisions. This saved us a lot of time compared to previous experiences. Thank you so much for accommodating us when we had unexpected delays and rush for the deadline as well." -Qiu Jiahui, Resarch Analyst, ISEAS – Yusof Ishak Institute
